Welcome to Calceum. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website (calceum.com) and HMRC-recognised Making Tax Digital software services.

By using Calceum, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. About Our Service

Calceum provides HMRC-recognised bridging software for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD ITSA). Our software enables self-employed individuals and landlords to:

  • Upload financial data from spreadsheets
  • Submit quarterly updates to HMRC
  • File End of Period Statements
  • Submit Final Declarations

Important: Calceum is bridging software. We transmit your data to HMRC but do not provide tax advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit.

2. Who Can Use Calceum

To use our services, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a UK taxpayer or an authorised agent acting on behalf of UK taxpayers
  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Have the authority to submit tax information to HMRC (either for yourself or as an authorised agent)

3. Your Responsibilities

When using Calceum, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate financial information
  • Review all data before submitting to HMRC
  • Keep your login credentials secure
  • Comply with all applicable tax laws and HMRC requirements
  • Not use the service for any unlawful purpose

You are responsible for:

  • The accuracy of all tax information submitted through our software
  • Meeting HMRC deadlines for submissions
  • Maintaining your own records for HMRC compliance

4. HMRC Authorisation

To use Calceum with your HMRC account, you must authorise our software to act on your behalf. This authorisation:

  • Is handled securely through HMRC’s OAuth 2.0 system
  • Can be revoked at any time through your HMRC account
  • Does not give us access to your HMRC login credentials

5. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance (with advance notice where possible)
  • Experience downtime due to HMRC system availability
  • Update or modify features to improve the service

HMRC Deadlines: You should not rely solely on Calceum being available at the last minute before HMRC deadlines. We recommend submitting well in advance of due dates.

6. Pricing and Payment

Free Tier

Our Free tier provides core MTD compliance features at no cost.

Paid features are available through subscription plans as detailed on our website. Prices may change with reasonable notice.

7. Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Key points:

  • We encrypt all data in transit and at rest
  • We do not store your HMRC login credentials
  • You can request deletion of your data at any time

8. Intellectual Property

All content, designs, and software provided by Calceum are our intellectual property or licensed to us. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute our software
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Use our branding without written permission

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Calceum is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind
  • We are not liable for any errors in HMRC submissions resulting from incorrect data you provide
  • We are not liable for any penalties, interest, or other charges imposed by HMRC
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded by law

10. Termination

By You

You may stop using Calceum at any time. To close your account, contact us at support@calceum.com.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access if you:

  • Breach these Terms
  • Use the service for unlawful purposes
  • Provide false information

Upon termination, you may request a copy of your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Posting the updated Terms on this page
  • Updating the “Last updated” date
  • Emailing registered users for material changes

Continued use of Calceum after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
